The FAQ

Should I bring props to the session?

Absolutely! A story can be told in different ways but it only makes a lasting impression once you bring it to life with graphic details.
A prop can be any extra little object that you want to bring along to your photoshoot to give your photos that personal touch! I always ask my clients to gather and bring along a few items that are special to them to use in their shots. For example: a favorite journal, a unique necklace, etc. Other popular props include laptops, plants, house decor items, unique wardrobe accessories, or items that are unique to your particular career field. Photographs taken of you interacting with props will instantly tell a visual story to the viewer, and the right props can really help your images to look more authentic & relatable as well!
Google "Props for (your type of shoot) photography," and you should get great suggestions on what you can bring to a shoot.

What should we do for an engagement session?

Hiring a professional photographer comes first, and you're here, so you're on the right track. ;)
All jokes aside... ladies, consider hiring professional hair dresser and getting your makeup done by a professional. Gentlemen, get a fresh cut and take your brand new clothes to the cleaners to get it nicely pressed.
And, of course, bring props!

Do you retouch photos?

One of the benefits of hand-picking the images is the ability to see "flaws" in the images. As a result, some images may be retouched.

How many photos do we get?

In short, it depends. On a one-hour session, I normally shoot approximately 150-300 photos. Images are curated and only the best images are carefully selected. Depending on the photo session, I usually deliver a minimum of 25 photos. However, 40-60 "winners," are often delivered, as well.

Whats your turn around time?

This also depends on the photoshoot, and how many images were taken during the photo session. Smaller photoshoot sessions can expect to receive them within 2 weeks of the photoshoot. If you need a faster turnaround, it's doable. We can discuss your options for your specific needs.

How do we book you?

The easiest way to book me is by filling out the contact form on this website, or simply send me an email at: david@davidstellaphotography.com

Can you help us with planning?

This is probably one of the most popular questions I'm asked. Let's get to know each other a little bit better, and I'll be glad to provide you with some helpful tips that'll make your photos pop. If you're session is in the Central Florida area, I also partner with event planners, and other vendors that can help your photo session be unique and special.

How do we get our photos?

When the gallery is ready, you'll receive a link to your gallery. From the gallery, you'll be able to view and download your images.

How long have you been doing this?

I bought my first camera in 2018, and I haven't dropped it since.

How far out do you book?

My calendar fills fast, so I always recommend reserving your photo session as early as possible.

What should we wear?

When you’re trying to create a beautiful and timeless family portrait it is important that you choose the right clothing. Just Google bad family portraits to see why. Neutral colors work best, but try not to match. Fitted clothes, closed-toe shoes, jeans, sleeves, layers all look great in photoshoots.

Do you require a deposit to hold my session date?

Yes. Once you're ready to book your date, I'll send over the client agreement, and your session's non-refundable retainer fee of $50 will be due at that time.

Do you offer payment plans?

I do offer payment plans on sessions that cost $500 or more. I realize that capturing memories can be an investment, and I'm happy to divide your total into payments. However, no files will be delivered until the balance is paid in full.

Do you travel?

Yes, absolutely! Although I generally photograph in Florida, with enough time to plan, we can arrange your out-of-state or overseas photography needs, as well.

Who owns the copyright to my images?

David Stella and David Stella Photography are the copyright owners of every image. While I retain the copyright of all content created, clients are able to use the images for personal, non-commercial usage. If your printing lab requests a print release, I will be glad to provide it for you.

Where can I print my photos?

I personally recommend using the labs that Pixiset has partnered with, because they provide professional prints and press products for professional photographers. You can add photos to your cart in your gallery's store and order prints from there. However, you may use the print lab of your choice, as well. It's completely at your discretion where you want to have your photos printed.
